I'm Starving

The Kastendike 7 will officially start their weight loss challenge this week. I'm sure everyone has already started their routines and diets....I'm fricken' starving and I have done some type of exercise everyday...my body is revolting! I think I am also at a total disadvantage b/c of what I do every day...make cupcakes. Do you know how hard it is not to eat the "scraps" or lick your finger b/c it has batter on it?! I'm just bitter but hopefully I will be looking back on this day and laughing when I am skinny :)

AHHHH the Spa

I think, when I hit the lottery, I am going to hire my own private masseuse. Last year during the Alamance Golf Tournament, Greg purchased a day at the spa for me, including but not limited to, an hour long massage and hour long European facial. But I didn't get to use it, Suzz and I were busy shopping! So here's the catch, it is located in Greensboro, about an hour and a half away.

BUT, Greg went out there for some business and my mom and dad were in town so I got to spend the day at the spa. Complete use of the pool, sauna, steam room, workout facility and hot tub! I lounged by the pool for a couple of hours, then I had my massage, which was FABULOUS! My facial was ok, kinda weird, I kept thinking I had a boogie and I couldn't check b/c my face was magnified 8 million times under that light thing, so it wasn't really relaxing but my face is nice and moisturized. PS--no boogie I checked in the bathroom right after!

Then I relaxed in the "waiting room" and then slapped on my workout clothes and RAN, yes RAN 2 miles. I was jamming to Britney :) I also did some crunches and stretching. Are some of you wondering why I would workout?! Me too, but the whole Kastendike clan has entered into a Weight Loss Challenge. So look out! I may be grumpy for a little bit...no food, I have to workout and I'm sure my neck is going to feel great!

Anywho, after my long workout, I showered and then laid by the pool and waited for my knight in shining armor to pick me up! I finished a whole book yesterday! Ah to be kidless. But I wouldn't trade him for the world. (Side note: the spa had peppermint body wash...it was AWESOME, I highly recommend it)

He is cranky. He is teething. Greg changed cable providers so no more Baby's First. WE are all having a bad week and it's only Wednesday!

Congrats to Meghan and Ray

OK...I am a total blonde! Congrats to Meghan and Ray who got engaged sometime around the 4th (the days all melt together for me...I'm sorry guys). We can't wait for another C-town wedding!

On a whole separate note...Sam had to visit the pulmonologist this week. Since Sam was born, we have familiarized ourselves with lots of doctors and I myself have gotten to be on a first name basis with the client services ladies at my insurance! We have some docs who are friendly, kindhearted and generous with their time and answers. We have also had some who are arrogant, dim-witted and short with their time and answers. I got a mix of both when we visited the doc this week.

I had called to see what we needed to bring, ie. list of meds, records. Just the list of meds they said! When the doc comes in he starts with, "Why are you here?" with a puzzled look on his face when I say Sam has had a persistent cough. OK, he says! Then starts the questions, when did he get sick, when did he start meds, how long has he been on certain drugs? OK--this is why it would have been nice to have the records with me. Because now I look like an incompetent parent b/c I have no idea. The specifics long went out the window!

But in the end he seemed to warm up a little. He h including 2 different steroids and asthma as given Sam the diagnosis of Asthma. YUCK! But it could definitely be worse so we are not complaining. He is on a plethora of medsmeds and his reflux stuff! Poor guy!
He is smiling through it though as usual! Sorry to be long winded! Just thought I would give ya'll a taste of our daily lives...don't get me started on our insurance!

Semi Done

The bathroom is painted! All walls have been covered at least once!

We took off the big mirror to paint behind it and what a difference it makes. The room seemed so small with it down.

I will hopefully be done with the "decorating" this week! And just maybe will be able to have a very relaxing bath before our crazy weekend!

Congrats Jeannie and Bob

Jeannie and Bob are engaged!! Whoooo-Hooooo! I will see them this weekend so I will fill ya'll in on the details when I get them.

Also, on a different note, Dusty, Anna's man, has been released from the hospital. Unbeknownst to me, he had a firework pop early and it damaged his hand. He was in the burn unit in Washington, DC for a couple of days. They said it had not gotten infected and he was ready to go home! So, everyone send him well wishes of pain free healing.

Cupcake Envy is busy. I am familiarizing myself with Quickbooks and trying to keep our orders straight!

Fourth

We took Sam to the Children's Parade in downtown Wake Forest on July 4th. He was so cute. He actually put his hands on the steering wheel and the gear shifter :)

Savanah was here for the week and she was a big help with Sam! We went to the pool and tried to go mini-golfing but it didn't work out...closed for repairs (Wally World relived). We also went to the Rodeo! What a site for people watching!

Sam had an Upper GI done yesterday at WakeMed Hospital. What memories....I started hyperventilating when I was walking past the elevators we used each day for 5 weeks! But everything seems to be fine with is anatomy, his digestive system and the reflux. He still has it but it isn't by any means severe :) YEAH! We are off to the Pulmonologists next week. FUN!

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's....

Captain Adorable!!! I know, I know! But this is his Super Suit!

Click this link to see one of my FAVORITE scenes from any movie around :)

And....
I am proud of my semi-painted bathroom so I wanted ya'll to see it and tell me about the color...if you like it or if it's too Floridian?! I was shooting for zen/spa/beach/relaxation?!

Lots Going On

Hey everyone--at last we left Sam in the batcave...JK. We have been super busy! Jeannie graduated and we visited Grammi's over the weekend.

Savanah has been here keeping me company and we have been all over! But the most exciting thing that we have done was to go to the Rodeo! Believe it or not Raleigh has a rodeo and it's right down the street from us. We saw bull riding and barrel racing! It was great people watching and we had a blast!

We also babysat Ben and Sam next door while Amy went to see DMB! I'm so jealous but we had an awesome time playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band! WOW...if you ever want to embarrass yourself play some of those!

Happy Fourth! And Happy Birthday to Suzzanne! We ordered fireworks for you! Enjoy!
