On the Road Again

Sam and I will be hitting the road again...back to MD. Jeannie is graduating...AGAIN...this time with her Masters in Art Education. She got a job in Lusby at an elementary school! I am so proud of her! Student teaching is not fun and can deter ANYONE from teaching in about a week, so congrats on persevering.

Samuel is growing up soooooo fast. I tell him everyday that he is disobeying me already and growing up! He is quickly learning to pull himself up on things and was crawling all over Greg last night....wait till you see the video to see what he was crawling for! I'll give you a hint...Daddy Juice!

We had his nine month appointment on Tuesday! He is a little over 18 lbs and is a giant on the height charts. He is in the 45th percentile for height, not adjusted. The doctor has suggested going to see a gastroenterologist and a pulmonologist to check Sam out for his reflux and the cough that he has. The docs think that he is aspirating (breathing in) his reflux so all that acid and yucky stomach stuff is going into his lungs...AKA NOT GOOD! So we will see! Medical Bill Hell here we come :)

I am off to Carolina Back and Neck to see what other kinds of bills we can rack up! The docs think I need steroid injections and weekly massages! I say yes, my bank account says no. I practically laughed in the doctors face! Who can afford weekly massages? She said that there are places that code them for medical reasons and I can bill them to the insurance! How fab is that? I hope I can pull it off. But for now it is high doses of anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxers....look out MD drivers :) PS Thanks Krissy!

Long Time, No See

Sorry about the break ya'll! We have been out of town at the BEACH!!!! Congrats to Kassie Williams and Brian D'Onofrio on tying the knot this weekend! It was a beautiful day and we could not be happier for you two!

Here is the ultimate beach family photo sans the white shirts and khaki pants! We opted for tropical and preppy!

We also had our first night away from the man! Uzzie and Poppi took charge this weekend and were troopers! They took Sam Friday night so I could go to the beach with Greg, Lindy and George. Lindy, Crystal and I went shopping and the boys met Eric and Christopher and played golf.
UMMMM Frick and Frack!! Could they look any more alike! I swear...if I didn't give birth to Sam I would be questioning my maternity! Apparently, I was just the host!


We took Sam to the beach on Sunday....we were so excited for his first day at the beach....why didn't anyone tell us that it would not be as fun as we had anticipated?!?!? Sam didn't like the sand, the water from the ocean was about 40 degrees so filling the pool was pointless and then it was windy and super sunny! Oh, did I mention he was exhausted? Greg took him up to the house and he went down for a nap IMMEDIATELY! So much for a fun day in the sun but Mommy got to read and enjoy the sun a little :)

We got back last night and Sam was shreiking when we pulled in the driveway. He is no fool! He knew exactly where we were! He was so excited to be home! But we are off again on Thursday...back to MD for Jeannie's graduation! He'll be so excited to get back in the car!

Just So Everyone Knows

I am taking a cue from one of my friends and her blog. She periodically takes a walk down memory lane. So...since we have come so far, I thought we would look at where all of this started...by this I mean Sam.

This is a pic of Sam 2 days after he was born. I don't think the magnitude of what was going on really had hit us. Maybe it never will. While looking at these pics I feel so overwhelmed. I could never have imagined being that strong or in that situation. I don't think Greg had either. We both just trudged through.

We just love this little guy to pieces so excuse us for being so proud!!

Pool Time

So I bought Sam a pool...it's a giant blow up frog, well it's not so much giant but compared to a real frog it is! He loves it! He has now figured out that he can crawl in the pool and the tub. He starts splashing and it takes his breath away :)

Chillin'

He is so adorable and such a good baby. He is feeling a little under the weather this week but there isn't a day that goes by without some good giggles and some precious, heart-melting smiles!

Just thought this was a little strange....No diving....it doesn't even go up to my ankle! And on the outside of the box it says keep away from fire!
There must be some REAL idiots out there!

Hands

There are only a select group of people that will understand this post...mainly Kastendike's. The picture below was taken this morning of Sam's hand. Notice what is on it...an injury/scrape! He truly is a mini me. Whatever Greg thought when he was a kid about NOT growing up to be exactly like his Dad is out the window. Greg's hands look like George's and now Sam's look the same!! Lord help me!

Greg is finally home from a long week of shagging claims in MD. I have been super busy at Cupcake Envy. So we are taking it VERY easy this weekend.

Computers, Babies, Heat Oh MY!

First--my apple is in repair so that is why posts are so far and few between.

Second--we had our first bloody incident on Monday. Sam is learning (VERY quickly) to pull himself up on things. He was holding onto the rung of a chair and couldn't judge how far the floor was so he could get down and he smacked his little face right into the rung. Of course I FREAKED! Blood was everywhere and he was doing the silent screaming. As I am telling him he is ok I am crying and trying to figure out where the blood is coming from. He ended up hitting the inside of his top lip and gum! He was fine 5 min after it happened....he was trying to eat the blood soaked paper towels!!! I on the other hand was not ok! I'm sure it was the first of many bloody incidents we will have so I better get prepared!

Third--it is so freakin hot here! It has been 100+ each day...my peeps in MD can relate...I think it has been pretty hot up there too! I think it is going to cool down to 90 today!

Back to Babies.....CONGRATS to Stacy (Ring) and Jim O'Neil! They welcomed 7 lb 14 oz baby Daniel Robert on May 28th!!!
Congrats to Jayme and Derek Naughton...they are due with their first baby in Sept...maybe the baby will come on my bday! They know but I'm not sure if they want everyone to know what they are having so maybe it will come in a later post!!

Oh Jimmy!

Greg and I went to see Jimmy Buffett last night. It was his birthday present! Well worth it! We had a great time. It was great to be back, neither of us had seen him in about 9 years! We had a few beers and sang all night at the top of our lungs! Many of you may have gotten "drunk dialed" by Greg...I apologize! It was also the hottest day of the year and quite unseasonably humid! We smelled pretty ripe at the end of the night...yummy!

Sam was full of laughs this weekend and new tricks! He was excited to see Uzzie and Poppi and they were equally as excited to see him!

Greg and George have made tremendous headway on the attic and we may even have walls soon!

We had both AC units take a crapola this weekend at different times! Don't worry...they are fixed!

Summer is officially here

Sam and I had our first pool date today! Amy belongs to Heritage Swim Club so we took her Sam and my Sam over for lunch and some swimming. It was a perfect day for it...90+ at 11am. So we slathered the kids in sunscreen and plopped them in the pool. Amy bought Sam the cutest little float this morning (a crab since we are from MD)!


He loved the water and was a little ticked when it was time to go! But he splashed and played with Sammy E. We went under once but I don't think he was a fan.

Let summer begin!

Sam "Don't Call Me Tiger" Kastendike

It is official...our son the golfer! Thanks to Granny Franny, Sam has his first set of clubs. He plays with his putter daily! It is unbelievable that he can grasp the putter, pick it up and swing it around. It almost looks like Charles Barkley's swing! I'm sure Greg will have his swing fine tuned and on video soon enough :)

Higher Mommy

Sam had his first trip to the park on Friday. He can't really do much but swing....but he loved it! It almost put him to sleep. It was beautiful weather and we sat playing in the grass for part of the afternoon!

Can't wait to get our swing up in the backyard!
